Mentor a Student | USQ Career Mentoring Program
The USQ Career Mentoring Program allows students to connect with industry professionals to help prepare for the transition from university to employment. This program aims to enhance students' knowledge, understanding and professional networks, and provides mentors the opportunity to meet, grow and learn from upcoming talent in the industry.
Commitment: You are able to connect with a student as a one-off meeting, for a 3-week period or for a non-specific timeframe - the choice is yours. It is recommended to connect with your mentee at least once every 10 days (if it's not a one-off meeting). You may contact via email, phone, face-to-face or online. For those who have participated previously, this year all contact will be done external to our new mentoring system.
There are set start dates which you'll be able to choose from when registering for the program.
- 12 July 2021
- 23 August 2021
- 4 October 2021
- 15 November 2021
- 17 January 2021
- 28 February 2021
- 4 April 2021
How will it work?
From 21 June, students will be able to browse the list of Mentor Bios. The student will notify the Careers & Employability Team of who they are interested in connecting with. USQ will review the request and (if appropriate) e-introduce the student and mentor via the emails provided on your registration. Together you will make the decision as to which start date, length of mentorship and frequency of contact to expect.
The USQ Careers & Employability Team will do what we can to guide the student through the mentoring relationship, encouraging them to drive the relationship.
